"Rain or Shine," the Elkton Alliance's Fall Fest page still says, under the dates for the Friday kick-off car show and the Saturday main event, Sept. 25 and 26, 2026. Above both, in a larger heading, the page now reads "Event Cancelled Due to Weather."
Fall Fest was downtown's big outdoor market, run by a committee of volunteers. With it gone, Elkton has no large outdoor shopping day this fall. The handmade gifts, local crafts and small-maker tables are spread across five smaller events between now and mid-December. Most are indoors, a few have tight limits, and they're spread from Newark Avenue out to Fair Hill and back to Main Street. If you want to buy local this year, the date and the door matter more than they usually do.
The clearest evidence of how this season works comes from the Alliance itself. Its Jingle & Mingle Artisan Fair page calls the event "much smaller and more intimate," held inside the Elkton Alliance, Inc. building at 101 E. Main Street with "just 10 carefully selected vendors." The page goes on to say the market "offers a different atmosphere from Fall Fest, providing guests with a more curated shopping experience and offering a limited number of artisan spaces."
With Fall Fest canceled, that description fits the whole season. Ten vendors in one building on one Saturday is a very different trip from a full day of outdoor booths. That's the reason to work through the season in order, not to save your list for one big day.

If you're judging by number of vendors, the biggest event of the season comes on Sunday, Nov. 8. The Singerly Fire Company Holiday Craft Show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 300 Newark Avenue. The county calendar promises "dozens of local crafters/vendors," with woodwork, tumblers, jewelry and crocheted items, along with fudge, baked goods, jams and jellies, and honey. Food is for sale, prepared and sold by the Singerly Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Compare that with the 10 tables at Jingle & Mingle three weeks later. The firehouse show is the one place this season where the listing talks about vendors by the dozen. If you have a long gift list, start here.
The next weekend moves the shopping out of town. The Fair Hill Arts Festival fills Walls Hall at the Fair Hill NRMA, 4640 Telegraph Road, on Nov. 14 and 15. It features 30 local artists "selected through a juried process," and all of the original work is for sale.
The two November weekends do different jobs. Singerly brings range and kitchen goods. Fair Hill brings original artwork chosen by a jury. With Fall Fest gone, those are two separate trips this year.
Saturday, Nov. 14 also brings Bohemia Overlook Vineyard's Winter Makers' Market at 88 Rivers Edge Road in North East, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It offers local vendors, food trucks, live music and free photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by HER Photography. If you want both on the same weekend, Fair Hill's Sunday date leaves room for the vineyard on Saturday.
After Thanksgiving, the shopping comes back downtown, in smaller venues.
Jingle & Mingle is set for Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 101 E. Main Street. Ten vendors in a four-hour window means the selection on the tables at 10 a.m. may not be the selection at 1:45. If you have one vendor in mind, get there early.
Four days later and a few addresses down the same street, the Cecil County Arts Council at 135 East Main Street hosts the Annual Holiday Wreath Making Class on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. CLT is once again partnering with the Arts Council on the evening. The listing promises holiday music, light refreshments and "an expert wreath making coach," and tells readers to "sign up before all the spots are filled." It's the one event of the season where you make the gift yourself, and the only one whose listing warns that spaces run out.
Between the markets, the Alliance's three evening events bring people to the downtown storefronts, not to vendor tables.
The Turkey Trot Bar Crawl falls on Wednesday, Nov. 25, the night before Thanksgiving, and the Alliance promotes food and drink specials. No start time is posted yet.
The Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, Dec. 4, runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with Santa, treat bags for kids and carolers.
The Christmas Cookie Throwdown is the event most tied to the shops themselves. On Friday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., the county listing invites visitors to "visit our downtown merchants to sample cookies and vote for your favorite," with a photo stop at the Elkton Christmas tree. The cookies are in the stores, so to vote you have to walk in the door of each shop. In a season without a big outdoor market, that may be the most complete tour of Main Street's businesses on the calendar.
Both Friday nights overlap with other events nearby. The Town of Perryville lights its tree at Lower Ferry Park at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. "A Christmas Carol" plays Milburn Stone Theatre in North East Dec. 4 through 6, and "A Christmas Carol: The Musical" follows there Dec. 11 through 13. The downtown events run two and a half hours, so you can fit one in before a later plan.
The last stop is on the water. The Historic Elk Landing Open House on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 590 Landing Lane, offers tours of the Hollingsworth house on the hour at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m., plus "Our Little Gift Shoppe." The listing adds a detail that's easy to miss and matters at the register: "Cash or Check please."
Elk Landing is the only event on this list whose listing tells you what to bring in your wallet. With a little gift shop and three set tour times, it rounds off the season on a small scale.
Rose works with Elkton homeowners all year, and the season's details are part of knowing a town well, down to which room holds 10 vendors and which register takes only cash or check. If you'd like a local opinion before listing or buying in Cecil County, or simply want to know which Elkton blocks are busiest on event nights, Rose Calderone + Co. is glad to help.
